Which one is safer for beginners?
Nice wood my friend
Can you send air-assist replacement link you recommended. I have the S1 and have the same issue Section 10:54. Thank you.
I don't have a specific machine recommendation to replace the air assist, I just use an air compressor
For Veritas Mark II there is an accessory head for the narrow blades
hey, thanks a lot for your video. Where did you find the rails ?
The t track? Timbecon most likely!
Excellent informative review, many thanks.
You can in fact see the approx laser time in the software
Hey mate I'm an Aussie beginner and want to make a table to try sell what do you reccomend
Great video! I just purchased the GEX 1251ae due to this informative video! BTW- were can I buy that vacuum interface which fits between your sander and vacuum hose ? 😊
"Pony sauce" HAHAH nice build man
Kia Ora & Good Evening from Caribbean Drive, Unsworth Heights, North Shore, Auckland, New Zealand ...Another Great Video Bro.
Thank you. For some reason Virutex has very little info on their products online!
Still using you previous table design for my Bosch PBD40. Does everything I need to and takes up little room in my 6x4m workshop. Love the Viking but really can't justify it. About to make a little vice to go on it mounted similarly.
I think I said I was going to build your Baby Bosch Drill Press Table 3 years ago.... I might need to get to that. 😅😅
I'm not mad, James, I'm just a bit disappointed. You don't even have "I don't have a tablesaw" as an excuse now!
🤣 hashtag sod! Anyhoo, more importantly I like the tappers you’ll be making on the press
They're getting there! Down here in the south, we experience something called "winter" which is when the warm goes away. It makes it tricky to be in the workshop sometimes!
@@TheWoodKnight yeah cold does not sound good to me at all
I didn't exactly size my drill press table, and now all my holes come out square... it's absolutely infuriating.
Think of the money you saved by your mistake - now you don't have to buy a mortiser! 😂
Perfect sign off! 👌 😂❤
"Sod off" ? I'm confused. Is that a new way to say "touch grass" (get off youtube & and go outside) or "Get off my lawn!"?
I didn't realise it wasn't common outside UK/AU/NZ! "Sod off" is basically "go away"
@TheWoodKnight I mostly knew that (was mostly making a bad joke), but thanks for the certain explanation. Love the channel!
Another for “sod off” perfectly imperfect end to a perfectly mundane video.
As you say a drill press table is a whole load of conveniences in one package. And a nice build.
"Sod off"... not a bad sign off, although I personally like "Jog on"
Love the new signoff. I say you make it permanent
Great now I have to go out and buy a drill press. 😂 great video
Nice work again. I use some 20x20, 20x 40, 30 x 30 and 30 x 60 aluminium extrusions for the fence and they work brilliantly. They are connected to the t- track in the same as you have done, even down to the knurled 1/4-20 thumbnuts.
I try not to measure if I don't have to. I have a commercial table but don't really use it. Still using my Bosch PBD40, so far no problems with what I need to do. Scrap wood underneath for clean holes. And now I'll Wrack off 🤪
It's a very mundane project, I'm not going to take offense if people need more excitement like a piece of scrapwood to replace it 🤣
Also, I upgraded the drill press last year but haven't made a new table yet. You're right in that it isn't strictly needed, but I prefer it for the simple reason of, I don't like touching the cold cast iron so I want to feel smooth melamine under my fingers 😆
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me - cast iron at this time of year is uh, particularly unpleasant! Before even firing up the jointer the other day, I leant on the table to get some boards down and then had to go get a hot cup of tea to get feeling back in my fingers 🤣
When you were measuring at the beginning, you didn't mention if that was imperial or metric? How on earth can I replicate this build down to the milli-inch if I don't know those details?
😂🤪
“Sod off”, absolutely works for me. 😂👍 I hope hope it it drives the PCer’s nuts! 🤩
Did you get rid of the Bosch drill press?
I did, yes, a friend now has that. When we moved to the new house I splurged with the extra space we have in the workshop, and because of a few big-boring-projects coming up where the Bosch was showing some issues. I'm only now just starting on the first of those!
I liked the location of the t-track, perfection! :D
Thank you for confirming what I already "knew" and giving me some new, valuable, info. As a wannabe luthier and a scientist every little bit helps. Keep up the good work🎶
Awesome design mate
See I have the 'nice' push stick for when the blade won't be near it then the crappy one that gets chewed and chucked. 😂 I do like this design though. The next chewnchuck may resemble it
I thought you said there was a cut list in the description. All I see is a link to purchase your plans. Edit: the link doesn't even seem to lead to it. I perused your site and couldn't even find this jig amongst the plans available.
the video was more nearly 5 years ago, and my website has had changes since then and anything that wasnt seeing traffic wasnt moved over to the new system. Unfortunately, I do not still have any plans for this - you're the first person in that time that has asked for it.
Pretty complicated build. Could have been a lot simpler.
Thanks! I'll take that under advisement.
Probably because you sold them cheaply.
Looks great mate, what wood did you use for this table? planning to make one with the same plans but with modified rails like yours :) where did you get your rail plans from?
It's all Vic Ash, an australian native timber. These plans are TheWoodWhisperers, which you can get from thewoodwhispererguild.com/product/gaming-table/ I also made a second table with my own design ua-cam.com/video/8E8FJaV7e_U/v-deo.html
I do need to make myself a push stick
I make mine a bit taller so when I've chewed through the heel, I cut it off and cut a new heel on the same push stick. Saves a bit on material
Every single time - and I do genuinely mean that - every time I've made a push stick, I've gone in with the intention of making it a little bit taller for that exact reason. Every single time, without fail, I forget to account for that. The curve above the hook is what gets me every time, I forget to account for that!
MeizhouTC planer is such a basic inexpensive tool it could of and should of been made in Australia. Very small cnc lathe could of pumped out the brass and a copy lathe pump out the handles. Plenty of small foundries in Melbourne and Victoria that could of batched out the base, I know because I use them in the water industry. I was sold until the communists stuck their heads up.
One overkill upgrade would be to put the pivot of the support leg on the same axis as the table tilting mechanism so you just have to loosen the leg lock a bit and tilt.
I like your perspective….”it’s a consumable”….making it pretty is a waste of time, and if it’s too fancy, I know that I’d tend to avoid using it
There is at least one youtuber who makes their pushsticks out of "Bolivian Rosewood and Tiger Maple". They didn't even use offcuts/scrap wood for it, they were fresh boards 😭
@@TheWoodKnight 😥!
Mundane to a particular type of person maybe. Not me. Always here to watch you in the shop.
I chucked my Chicken foot stick away years ago. I made a 3mm MDF template, which I keep in a drawer and just pull out and trace when the old one gets chewed up. How about making the John Heisz I build it. Design and comparing for ergonomic comfort.
I haven't been out to the workshop to check this out yet for myself, but I did speak to Nick about it His thoughts about Johns design was "its still better than a birds mouth/chicken foot, but from experience its a bit less ergonomic" Specifically, arm/wrist position make it mildly less easy to apply pressure downwards *but* if you were used to one style over the other, the muscle memory is going to make the style you're familiar with always seem best as its almost splitting hairs! I'll see if I can get into the shop this week to try it out.
This is exactly what I was after thanks mate.
wow. what a horror. That is absolutely not right - very poor form. The "fee" is horrible. I hope with time that something can get sorted out - but like you, I suspect not. But absolutely sucks !
I'm wondering since it's relatively easy to move around whether it's possible to use this drill in a similar way to a magdrill? For example, can you place the drill on top of a large sheet of MDF, position the laser onto the desired location, and then drilling through the center of the drill base and onto the workpiece?
I upgraded my drill press to a Nova Viking, so I don't have this one on hand to check - theoretically "yes", practically might be a bit trickier. Yes, can absolutely drill through the table as its just aluminium. Or you could theoretically rotate it out of the way if you could clamp/otherwise secure it, though I believe there is a key that forces it into one orientation. You could grind/file that off so it rotates freer. The laser *may* need readjustment for pinpoint accuracy through the table
@@TheWoodKnight Yes, the possibilities with the Bosch drill press seem to be there if people are prepared to make the adjustments/modifications that are needed. Good choice re: Viking. Expensive, but worth it I think.
RIP STEVE ALBINI
What a simple and sturdy way to extend the table... thank you :-)
Funny timing Dominik, I just remade this table after moving and made it even sturdier if you're interested ua-cam.com/video/dw9r7Xhi0Uc/v-deo.html
You're incredibly soft spoken and it's relaxing to hear you speak. It's like watching Bob Ross. It's absolutely awesome. Thank you greatly for your video. It was great. I just picked up a Jarrah table the other day for free and I'm gonna refinish it. There's not so much on the internet or UA-cam about it. Thanks again you're awesome.
